Bulgaria
(Bulgarian: България), officially the Republic of Bulgaria
(Bulgarian: Република България), is a country in Southeastern Europe.
It borders the Black Sea to the east, Greece and Turkey to the south,
Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west, and Romania to
the north, mostly along the Danube.
Founded in 681 and thus one of the oldest countries
in Europe, Bulgaria is noted for not having ever changed its name
through the ages. Today, the country is an active member of NATO,
and is also due to join the European Union on January 1, 2007.
